The automotive industry is open for business during COVID-19 lockdowns. Australia has 14 million motorists, and while we might not be driving as much or as far these days, if you need work done on your car, now’s a good time. With less jobs lined up, panel beaters and mechanics have more time for your baby.

Information from the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) – which has over 5,000 members – has said that most automotive businesses across Australia remain open for business.

Strict new measures are in place at work, however, with hygiene more important than ever to protect staff and customers. For example, contactless pick-up and drop-off, tap and go payments, emailing invoices and quotes, extensive courtesy car cleaning/rental car cleaning, and key drops.

Automotive businesses include:

  • Car dealerships
  • Motorcycle dealerships
  • Farm machinery dealerships
  • Mechanics
  • Panel beaters
  • Smash repairers
  • Tyre dealerships
  • Rental cars

The only area of auto business that is closed is public vehicle auctions, however auction houses are now servicing us online.
